
Guwahati: Demonstrating strategic brilliance and composure, three students from South Point l, Guwahati, delivered outstanding performances at the 4th BM Khaitan Memorial Inter-School Chess Championship, held at The Assam Valley School, Balipara, Tezpur on July 17 and 18.
Subham Bhattacharjee of Grade XII clinched the first position in the Under-19 category, while Priyanchi Dutta of Grade VIII emerged as the winner in the Under-17 Girls category. Deesan Borkotoky of Grade XI secured the third position in the Under-17 category, adding another feather to the school’s cap.
The young chess prodigies were guided and accompanied by their dedicated coach, Bidyute Borah, whose mentorship played a crucial role in their success.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of International Arbiter Biswajit Rothin Bharadwaj of the Assam Chess Club, ensuring fair play and competitive standards throughout the event.
