Northeast Institutions Can Join UPSC’s New Email Alert System for Timely Job Vacancy Updates

Guwahati: Universities, institutions, and professional schools in the Northeast have been urged to subscribe to the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) newly launched email alert service to receive timely job vacancy notifications in central government departments.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between recruitment opportunities and eligible candidates—particularly in specialised fields like medicine, engineering, law, teaching, and finance—by reaching academic and professional institutions directly.
Through this initiative, recognised universities, colleges, and professional bodies can receive vacancy alerts tailored to their academic or professional areas. To subscribe, institutions simply need to email ra-upsc@gov.in with the subject line: “Subscription Request – UPSC Recruitment Alerts.”
The UPSC, which traditionally relied on its website, Employment News, and LinkedIn to announce openings, has introduced this email-based system to expand its outreach and improve application numbers for gazetted Group A and B posts. The Commission processes over 200 recruitment proposals annually, and in 2025 alone, it has received more than 240 recruitment cases. However, several vacancies still go unfilled due to a lack of suitable applicants.
The Commission is also coordinating with various central ministries and departments to share these alerts on their own platforms. There are plans to involve public broadcasters for wider visibility, especially in remote areas.
To streamline the process further, UPSC has requested ministries to submit recruitment proposals between January and March every year. This will help the Commission conduct common eligibility tests for similar roles and complete recruitment cycles more efficiently.
For the Northeast—where awareness about central government job notifications often lags behind—this move is expected to be a game-changer.
Institutions across Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim are encouraged to register at the earliest and ensure their students and alumni don’t miss out on key employment opportunities.
