Guwahati: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting higher education and curbing brain drain from the Northeast by awarding scholarships to more than 500 newly admitted students for the academic year 2025–26. The Scholarship Award Letter Distribution Ceremony, held on Wednesday, also recognised 72 students with the Semester Topper Scholarship for their outstanding performance in the Even Semester Examination 2024–25.
The scholarships were conferred across multiple categories, including Merit Scholarship, Endowment Scholarship, BPL Category Scholarship, Community-based Scholarship, Sports Scholarship, and Scholarships for Wards of Military, Paramilitary, and Police Personnel from the region. Recipients will receive fee waivers of 100%, 50%, or 25%, depending on their achievements and contributions.

Earlier this week, 72 RGU students received the Semester Topper Scholarship, which carries a monthly stipend of ₹3,000. Additionally, 15 students already holding prestigious scholarships were honoured with Certificates of Merit. The university also recognised 15 achievers who represented RGU at the 38th Inter University National Youth Festival 2024–25 hosted by Amity University, Noida, with Certificates of Appreciation and fee concessions.
The ceremony was attended by eminent dignitaries including Dr. AK Pansari, Chancellor of RGU; Major General R. K. Jha, AVSM (Retd.), Director (Personnel) at NEEPCO; Major General AK Sharma, General Officer Commanding, 51 Sub Area Guwahati; Prof. Diganta Munshi, Registrar Administration; Prof. DN Singh, Registrar Academics; along with deans, heads of departments, and faculty members.
Addressing the gathering, Major General R.K. Jha shared lessons from his experience, saying, “Failure is the reason of my success. Any successful man who says he has not failed, is a liar. This is the story we carry from battlefield.” Stressing the importance of learning the “science of understanding,” he urged students to cultivate individual, collective, and group understanding to build an ecosystem of collaboration and adaptability.
