Registration Deadline for ‘Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025’ Extended to October 11: Over One Crore Students Expected to Participate
New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has extended the registration deadline for the “Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025”, a nationwide student innovation movement, till October 11.
Earlier scheduled to close on October 6, the registration window was extended to encourage greater participation from schools across India.
Launched on September 23, the Viksit Bharat Buildathon is being hailed as India’s largest-ever school hackathon. Jointly organised by the Ministry of Education and the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, the initiative aims to engage over one crore students from nearly 2.5 lakh schools across the country. Students from Classes 6 to 12 are invited to form teams and develop prototypes that address real-world challenges through creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.
The Buildathon is designed around four themes of national importance: Aatmanirbhar Bharat (building self-reliant systems and solutions), Swadeshi (fostering indigenous ideas and innovation), Vocal for Local (promoting local products, crafts, and resources), and Samriddhi (creating pathways to prosperity and sustainable growth).
According to the Ministry, the live Buildathon will take place on October 13, with winners to be announced in December 2025. The event aims to cultivate an innovation-driven mindset among school students and aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047—India’s roadmap for transforming into a developed nation within the next two decades.
Officials said the Buildathon not only provides young learners with a platform to showcase their problem-solving skills but also nurtures early exposure to design thinking, teamwork, and technology-driven solutions.
“The movement seeks to ignite the spirit of innovation among school students, encouraging them to think beyond textbooks and build solutions that contribute to a self-reliant India,” a senior education ministry official said.
With the extended deadline, the government hopes to ensure participation from even the remotest corners of the country, making the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 a truly inclusive innovation movement.
