Medhavi Skills University Welcomes Batch of 2025 with Grand Orientation ‘PRARAMBH’ in Gangtok

Gangtok:  Medhavi Skills University (MSU), Sikkim, ushered in its new academic year with a grand orientation ceremony titled “PRARAMBH” for the incoming Batch of 2025 at Manan Kendra, Gangtok.

The programme marked the beginning of an academic journey for the new cohort and brought together policymakers, industry experts, academicians, students, and parents, underlining MSU’s growing reputation as a hub for skill-integrated higher education.

The event opened with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, the National Anthem led by MSU’s Cultural Club, and a welcome song by the university’s student ensemble. A specially curated video showcased MSU’s journey and impact since its inception.

In his address, MSU Founder and Chancellor urged students to embrace curiosity, resilience, and an entrepreneurial mindset. “At MSU, we have always aspired to bridge the gap between education and employability. Our vision is not only to provide degrees but to cultivate innovators, leaders, and socially conscious citizens,” he said.

The event featured addresses from distinguished guests including Shri Raj Shekhar Joshi, Vice-Chairman of SETU Ayog, Uttarakhand; Mr. Rakesh Prasad, AVP-HR at Indigo Airlines; Mr. Debmalya Banerjee, Regional Director, Indian Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Pankaj Mathur, Senior General Manager, Felix Hospital; and Mr. Kalappa KB, CHRO, Chai Point. Speakers highlighted the importance of industry-academia collaboration and future-ready skills.

The orientation was further enlivened with cultural performances—ranging from Nepali and Assamese to Arunachali and Newari dances—alongside performances by the University Band, The Troopers.

A moment of pride came when MSU celebrated its national recognition as the 4th-ranked university in the Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2025, commemorated with a felicitation ceremony and a documentary on its 13-year journey.

MSU’s Pro-Chancellor lauded the university’s progress and urged students to become “job givers, not just job seekers.”

The highlight of the ceremony was the keynote address by Chief Guest, Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim, Mr. Justice Biswanath Somadder, who described education as a tool for nation-building. “Education is not simply about acquiring knowledge; it is about cultivating integrity, empathy, and responsibility,” he said.

The day also included motivational sessions, ice-breaking activities, and a briefing on the Foundation Programme to help students transition into university life.

With PRARAMBH, MSU successfully set the tone for the academic year ahead, blending academic vision, cultural diversity, industry insights, and student engagement—underscoring its mission to nurture globally competent and socially responsible graduates.
